Game Of ThronesGame of Thrones, the television adaption by HBO of the fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin, had an awesome first season a major hit for HBO (IMDB Ratings: 9.4/10 from 66,015 users).

Based on the storyline of the similarly titled first book in the series, A Game of Thrones, Season 1 took fans on a fantatsic journey into the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. If you need a recap (or haven’t seen it, gasp!!), See this Video.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun

It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings, queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…. all will play the ‘Game of Thrones’.

HBO (About Game of Thrones)

Season 2 which is currently being shot is based on the second book in the series, A Clash of Kings and is set to premiere in April 2012, continuing where we left off, with the Seven Kingdoms falling into further unrest as various families and individuals vie for power. A new production trailer, the first to really explore what we can expect in the new season has been released by HBO. In Season 2, “the world has greatly expanded”.

Although the video does not give fans many juicy tidbits, they do explore the new season enough to raise our expectations and get our imaginations racing as we await Season 2. Many of the cast of the first season will be back in their old roles but HBO also announced a slew of newcomers (sixteen in all) during the off season, meaning an expanded character list.

If you are fired up but April still seems too far away, here are one or two things to keep you engaged. Checkout the Game of Thrones interactive Viewer Guide (Map of the terrain or the Houses of the Seven Kingdoms) or get into reading the novels, A Song of Ice and Fire. Whatever you choose, Winter is Coming Again….. Soon.
